My Mother's Perspective

I told my mother of the separation. At least I thought I did. At the end of me saying, "The kids will be coming down and starting school here." my mother replies: "Luimmy too right?"
In utter disbelief and say, "...no mom".

"Does he not want to come down?", my mother asks. Besides the fact that he is not coming down because we are separated, he wouldn't want to come down even if we were together.
"I don't want him to come down." I reply.

In the most sympathetic tone my mom adds, "Oh no Maria, you can't do that to him, he needs you."
She continues to say, "You tell him he is welcomed here whenever."

I wish I was more like my mother.
